What Have I Been Doing?

I’ve been listening to a LOT of music (Oh, and being so thankful for Dawn who sent me postcards for New Hampshire and Vermont – awesome!!). When I asked for music recommendations though, people came out with massive lists of songs to check out: some I knew, some I didn’t. I haven’t listened to every song yet, but I WILL.

Want to know what’s been suggested? Here’s the list I’m working with:

    i don’t see one duran duran song…
    their new-ish song…red carpet massacre…pretty good.

  2. I think you can safely remove all Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, and Fergie tracks (opinion), and at that point, it just becomes about taste. I wish you luck with the culling of the chaf (natch).

With a few exceptions, I will probably avoid songs with excessive radio play – because I will likely get sick of them. To be honest, I like “Piece of Me” by Britney and that may end up in the final cut (who knows) – but chances are, if it’s on 1000 times a day (Pocketful of Sunshine) it won’t make my list.

(AndMelissa – I’ll check out that song!).

Specific Foo Fighters recc’s (best of the best):

    The Pretender
    Let It Die
    I’ll Stick Around
    No Way Back
    DOA
    The Last Song
    All My Life
    Breakout
    Best of You
    Monkey Wrench

Also, those are two separate Timbaland songs…

MM – I updated to correct the Timbaland listing. I’ll check out the Foo stuff, thanks!! (hard to get all the listings correct in 140 characters or less, I suppose!).

Songs I adore when I’m working out that I’m debating adding to my list (no judging my taste, y’all):

The Bad Touch – Bloodhound Gang
    Blue Skies – Tori Amos/BT
Boys of Summer – The Ataris
    Buffalo Stance – Neneh Cherry
    Dashboard – Modest Mouse
Dirty Little Secret – All American Rejects
    Don’t Trust Me – 3OH!3
I Love My Sex – Benassi Brothers
I Wanna Be Sedated – The Ramones
    Intergalactic – The Beastie Boys
    Lebanese Blonde – Thievery Corporation
A Little Bit of Riddim – Michael Franti & Spearhead
Party Up (in here) – DMX
Possession – Sarah Mc Lachlan (Rabbit in the Moon mix)
The Scratch – 7 Year Bitch
    Stripper – Sohodolls
    U + Ur Hand – Pink
When You Were Young – The Killers

  7. I realized something last night: Some of the best “inspire you to go the extra mile, or at least get off your ass” music comes from some 80s movies, specifically, movies that use the montage. That said, here are some additions to the suggestion list:
Survivor – Eye Of The Tiger
    Kenny Loggins – Danger Zone
    Michael Sembello – Maniac
    DVDA – Montage

I know all of those except DVDA – will have to check that out. I’m actually pretty partial to Irene Cara’s “Flashdance” but that’s because I’m a dork.
