I’ve been listening to a LOT of music (Oh, and being so thankful for Dawn who sent me postcards for New Hampshire and Vermont – awesome!!). When I asked for music recommendations though, people came out with massive lists of songs to check out: some I knew, some I didn’t. I haven’t listened to every song yet, but I WILL.

I think you can safely remove all Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, and Fergie tracks (opinion), and at that point, it just becomes about taste. I wish you luck with the culling of the chaf (natch).

With a few exceptions, I will probably avoid songs with excessive radio play – because I will likely get sick of them. To be honest, I like “Piece of Me” by Britney and that may end up in the final cut (who knows) – but chances are, if it’s on 1000 times a day (Pocketful of Sunshine) it won’t make my list.
(AndMelissa – I’ll check out that song!).

MM – I updated to correct the Timbaland listing. I’ll check out the Foo stuff, thanks!! (hard to get all the listings correct in 140 characters or less, I suppose!).

I realized something last night: Some of the best “inspire you to go the extra mile, or at least get off your ass” music comes from some 80s movies, specifically, movies that use the montage. That said, here are some additions to the suggestion list:
Survivor – Eye Of The Tiger
Kenny Loggins – Danger Zone
Michael Sembello – Maniac
DVDA – Montage

I know all of those except DVDA – will have to check that out. I’m actually pretty partial to Irene Cara’s “Flashdance” but that’s because I’m a dork.
